#CodingLabStudents: Soham Bhole, ICS 2024/25 Gold Award Winner!

Our #CodingLabStudent, Soham, who is a plane and coding enthusiast!

Meet Soham Bhole, 13, from Yuvabharathi International School with a passion for both programming and planes.

Whether he’s creating web apps or dreaming of soaring through the skies, Soham is always looking for new ways to challenge himself.

His innovative thinking and love for impactful coding earned him both the Gold Award and the Judges’ Choice (Most Innovative and Social Impact) at the International Coding Showcase (ICS) 2024/25, where he wowed the judges with a project that combines creativity, logic, and purpose.

Read on to find out more about his coding journey and aspirations!

Through ICS, I’ve learned to think creatively while solving problems logically. It also helped me become better at explaining my code and sharing my ideas—skills that are just as important as the coding itself.

Hi Soham, tell us more about yourself!

Making use of his programming knowledge, Soham is able to create various types of programs!

I enjoy coding and playing video games in my free time. I also have a big passion for aviation—I love learning about planes, and one day, I hope to fly them! Whether it’s building something new on the computer or imagining myself in the cockpit, I’m always looking for ways to push myself and try something new.

How did you start coding?

I started coding because I wanted to create something unique—something of my own. I began with Scratch, which helped me understand logic in a fun, visual way. As my interest grew, I moved on to Python to learn the basics of programming. Now I’m exploring web development, and I love seeing my ideas come to life on the internet.

Why did you decide to join the International Coding Showcase 24/25 (ICS)?

I wanted to challenge myself and see how my skills hold up on an international level. ICS was a great opportunity to showcase my work, get feedback, and learn from other amazing young coders. It pushed me to improve and think about how my projects can make a difference.

I want to build something real—something people can actually use. My goal is to create web apps that make a difference, not just for a group, but for everyone.

What have you learned from your ICS participation?

ICS helped me become a more well-rounded coder. I learned the importance of both technical skill and communication—being able to explain my code clearly and present my project well. It was also really inspiring to see what others had built. It showed me how powerful coding can be when used for good.

Here is Soham’s ICS 2024/25 Entry, Singapore Zoo Web App, that won him the Gold and Judge’s Choice (Most Innovative and Social Impact) Award!

What are your future coding aspirations?

I want to keep building more web apps and hopefully launch a project that people can use in real life. One of my biggest goals is to create a useful tool or app that helps others, not just for a competition. In the future, I hope to work in tech—maybe as a software developer creating things that really make an impact.

From Scratch to Python to social impact-driven web apps, Soham is a rising talent who codes with both heart and vision. With his eyes set on building tools for the greater good and possibly even taking to the skies one day, we know this young innovator’s future is looking bright—on the screen and beyond.
