#CodingLabStudents: Lincoln Lee Zhen Kai, ICS 2025/26 Gold Award Winner!
Meet our Coding Lab student, Lincoln Lee Zhen Kai, whose passion for technology has inspired him to explore coding, robotics, and innovation from a very young age. At the International Coding Showcase (ICS) 2025/26, he showcased his creativity and technical skills through an original project, earning the Gold Award for his outstanding achievement.
His journey reflects a love for learning, a willingness to embrace challenges, and a determination to keep pushing the boundaries of what technology can do. Now let’s hear more from Lincoln about his coding journey!
“Under my Coding Lab teacher’s mentorship and encouragement, I stepped outside my comfort zone to compete internationally, learning how to present my work with clarity and confidence.”
Tell us a little about yourself!
I love reading and experimenting with coding, robotics, and all kinds of technology. I enjoy discovering how things work and trying out new ideas through programming and building projects. In my free time, I also enjoy target shooting because it helps me improve my focus, concentration, and self-discipline.
How did your coding journey begin?
I started coding when I was just 5 years old. From the very beginning, I enjoyed learning how technology works and creating things through programming. As I continued learning, my interest grew into a passion for coding, robotics, and solving problems through technology.
What inspired you to participate in ICS 2025/26?
Under my teacher's mentorship and encouragement, I decided to challenge myself by participating in the International Coding Showcase. I saw it as a great opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, apply what I had learned, and experience what it was like to take part in an international coding competition.
What was the biggest lesson you learned during the project?
One of the biggest things I gained from ICS was the opportunity to apply my coding knowledge by creating a complete project and presenting it to others. Throughout the process, I learned how to organise my ideas, communicate my work more effectively, and explain the thinking behind my project.
Most importantly, completing the project and presenting it helped build my confidence. It showed me that with preparation and perseverance, I can take on bigger challenges and continue growing as a programmer.
“Having started coding at just 5 years old and winning Gold at ICS 2025/26, I am determined to master robotics and computer science to become a future computer scientist!”
What are your aspirations for the future?
In the future, I hope to become a computer scientist and continue exploring the exciting possibilities of technology. I want to deepen my knowledge of coding, robotics, and computer science so that I can develop innovative solutions that make a positive impact on the world.
As I continue learning, I look forward to taking on more challenging projects and discovering where my passion for technology will lead me.
At Coding Lab, we're proud to see Lincoln's curiosity and determination driving him to explore the world of technology from such a young age. His willingness to challenge himself through ICS reflects his passion for learning and his growing confidence as a young programmer. We look forward to seeing him continue developing his skills and wish him every success as he works towards his dream of becoming a computer scientist.
