Minecraft Cup 2023 (Ages 10-12) - Excellence Award (2nd Place) and the Tokyo Bay eSG Award
For 2023, our students from Coding Lab Singapore and Japan worked together to create The Future Earth, a sustainable society promoting self-sufficiency. Their project won them the Excellence Award (2nd Place) as well as the Special Award: Tokyo Bay eSG Award, which means the team will be presenting their project at Sushi Tech Tokyo 2024!
Minecraft Cup 2023 (Ages 7-9) - Inspirational Award
For 2023, our students from Coding Lab Singapore and Japan worked together to create a city called SkyCity, a place to study and research SDGs at the sustainable University and city. Their project won them the Inspirational Award!
#CodingLabStudents: Lucas Tang, 12, and Louis Tang, 10, Henry Park Primary School
We invited 2 passionate brothers, Lucas and Louis Tang, who first began their coding journey with us 4 years ago when they were 9 and 6 years old respectively. They have since accelerated across our S100 Python for teens, and are already pursuing our S200 Electives course at the ages of 12 and 10. Lucas will also be commencing his studies at Hwa Chong Institution in 2023.

#CodingLabStudents: Isaac Khong, 12, Platinum Award Winner, HCIC 2022
Meet our Coding Lab student, Isaac Khong – Platinum Award winner (the highest honour, awarded to the top 1.5% of participants) at the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2022.
You may remember him from our previous student feature together with his sister, Alicia Khong. He has previously won the Judge’s Choice – Social Impact Award in the International Coding Showcase 2020, and the Judge’s Choice – Most Innovative Award in the International Coding Showcase 2021.
#CodingLabStudents: Tan Zheng Kai, 12, Gold Winner, HCIC 2022
Here at Coding Lab, we aim to nurture future leaders in technology and it is always exciting to celebrate our fantastic students’ achievements. Today, we have Tan Zheng Kai, 12, with us, who has done us proud by achieving a Gold Award at the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2022!
His coding journey began when he was 10 years old, so it is even more amazing to see him progress so much and clinch an award in this highly reputable competition in just 2 years! Let us now hear from Zheng Kai directly about his coding journey in this blog here.
Minecraft Cup 2022 (Ages 7-9)
For 2022, our students from Coding Lab Singapore and Japan worked together to create a city called CodeTropolis District A. They focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15 and made a sustainable city connected to nature. Their project was so impressive that they were even selected for the Tokyo Bay eSG project, where they presented their project to the Governor of Tokyo! Watch their beautiful city here.
Minecraft Cup 2022 (Ages 13-18)
Our ages 13-18 team, with students from Singapore and Japan, created a city called CodeTropolis Nature. With a focus on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15, they made a city that is rich with biodiversity and green architecture that blends the urban landscape seamlessly into the surrounding wetlands refuge, and nature preserves. Their amazing Minecraft World clinched them the Sustainable City Development Award, making them one of the 4 teams to receive an award! View their project here.
Minecraft Cup 2022 (Ages 10-12)
Comprising of students from Coding Lab Singapore and Japan, students crossed borders and worked together to create a city called CodeTropolis Sea. They focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14 and built an undersea sanctuary for all animals on Earth. Watch their amazing project here!
Minecraft Cup 2021 - Creativity Award
Congratulations to our students at Coding Lab Japan who attained the Creativity Award in this year’s Microsoft National Minecraft Cup in Tokyo, Japan! Their Minecraft World called New CodeTropolis let them receive one of the 14 awards given to the top teams, emerging as winners out of more than 3000 entries! Watch their winning entry here.
Minecraft Cup 2019 - Best Coding Award
Congratulations to our students for achieving the Best Coding Award at the Microsoft National Minecraft Cup 2019 in Tokyo, Japan!Their winning project CodeTropolis, was selected out of more than 130 participating entries. Watch their winning entry here!
#CodingLabStudents: Evan Chua, 12, Gold Winner, HCIC 2022
Our students are our pride and joy, and we love celebrating their exciting coding journeys with them, including their achievements! We are very proud of how far our talented and bright student, Evan Chua, has come since he started coding with us at the age of 9! He has achieved the Gold Award (the second highest honour) at the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2022!
Evan’s achievements are testament to his grit and perseverance, which he has honed over the years at Coding Lab through his willingness to solve challenging coding problems, and constantly asking questions in class so that he can understand complex coding concepts better! #CodingLabStudents: Aidan Sin, 12, Platinum Award Winner, HCIC 2022
We love seeing our students shine and grow as they develop their coding skills and discover how they can find success through coding! Meet one of them today: our student Aidan Sin, age 12, who won the Platinum Award (the highest honour) at the Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2022!
Aidan found his passion and confidence for programming at Coding Lab, and has recently completed our advanced S100 Python Classes during the holidays! He particularly enjoys integrating his knowledge of mathematics in his coding projects, and has shared with the Coding Lab Team about his fascination with the limitless possibilities that coding provides! Jacob Xu, 11, Singapore | Advanced Electives Project Showcase | ICS 2022
Jacob Xu, 11, presents his Python coding project ‘Ukraine Awareness Website’ for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 2022.
"I developed a website to raise awareness about the Russia-Ukraine War. I used HTML, CSS and JavaScript and published it on Github. On my site, you can watch videos, play the Ukrainian anthem, interact with a Google map of Ukraine and learn more about Ukraine's history and important Ukrainians. I hope that through my project, I can do my part to raise funds to support the Ukrainian children who are badly affected by the war. Ng Chen-Xuan, 11, Singapore | Python Project Showcase | ICS 2022

Han Jo Xi, 13, Singapore | Python Project Showcase | ICS 2022
Han Jo Xi, 13, presents his Python coding project ‘Python Economy Program’ for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 2022.
"I have coded a mini python economy bot. There are tons of features like solving math equations for money, fishing and digging for money and items and using your money to wager against the bot in rock paper scissors! Everything including your inventory and balance is saved afterwards so it will never perish. Instead of white plain text, the interface also contains coloured text to suit the eyes for reading!" - Han Jo Xi

Wan Yu Hang Wesley, 11, presents his Python coding project ‘YouTube Simulator’ for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 2022.
"This project is inspired by Rotube Life on Roblox. The YouTube Simulator game is a simulated experience that allows players to take on the role of a popular YouTube creator. Players have the ability to create videos, upgrade skills, use the computer to keep a social media following and manage their subscriber base. Xavion Mirchandani, 11, Singapore | Advanced Computer Scientists Project Showcase | ICS 2022
Xavion Mirchandani, 11, presents his Python coding project ‘EncryptionX’ for Coding Lab’s International Coding Showcase 2022.
"Encryption X is a simple multifunctional encryption software that doubles as a text software. It encrypts by first reversing the text provided, then putting 3 random characters every two characters, and lastly ASCII shifts to a key that is randomly generated or manually put in depending on whether you are using key-mode or auto-mode. The encryption software supports opening files that use UTF-8 encoding. It supports .txt, .rtf, and file types like this. It can also save into these file types." - Xavion Mirchandani
