If you followed our previous annual adventures at the Minecraft Cup, you’ll know that this prestigious competition holds a very special place in our hearts. From exploring the intersection of technology and ecology to pitching forward-thinking ideas, the Minecraft Cup has always been an incredible launchpad for our young creators.
This year, Coding Lab returned to the international stage for the Minecraft Cup 2025 held in Tokyo, Japan! Facing off against thousands of talented young builders from across the region, our students translated their block-based coding skills into real-world sustainable solutions.

From Singapore to Tokyo: The Journey Begins!
The excitement was palpable from the moment our teams arrived at Changi Airport. For many of our students, this wasn't just a coding competition; it was an international expedition to share their vision of a greener, more sustainable future.
Ages 7–9 Division: Cross-Border Collaboration to Win the Encouragement Award!
We kick off our celebrations with our youngest innovators on Team Coding Lab Guardians! This category brought a truly unique challenge: our primary school students had to collaborate across borders, working hand-in-hand with teammates from Japan.
Despite the distance and language barriers, their passion for tech united them. Together, they engineered Sky Haven, a beautifully creative, disaster-resilient sanctuary. Using their early foundations in block coding, they scripted automated evacuation elevators and high-altitude emergency supply platforms. Their brilliant teamwork and imaginative real-world execution earned them a well-deserved Encouragement Award!
Ages 10–12 Division: Semi-Finalists & Encouragement Award Winners!
Our primary school innovators on the Protectors of Humanity team dove headfirst into engineering emergency-ready virtual infrastructure. Tasked with addressing unpredictable environmental forces, they integrated complex automated layouts into their project, Core of the Mountain. Out of hundreds of highly competitive international submissions, the judges recognized their technical execution, sending them straight to the global Semi-Finals in Japan alongside the Encouragement Award!

Ages 13–18 Division: Advancing to the Global Semi-Finals with 'Oasis'!
Our secondary school and teen innovators on the Urban Coders team set out to engineer Oasis, a complex, zero-emission urban sanctuary designed to systematically mitigate major environmental threats. This propelled them all the way to the global Semi-Finals in Tokyo alongside winning the Encouragement Award!

Standing before an esteemed international panel of tech experts, educators, and architects in Tokyo is no small feat. Yet, our semi-finalist students stepped up to the microphone with absolute confidence, articulating their design ideas beautifully and answering tough questions from the jury during the live rounds.
