Competition Coaching 2026
The Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) is an annual competition that aims to generate greater interest in the field of info-communications among students in primary schools.
HCIC is also an excellent opportunity for the youth to identify and explore their programming, coding, and robotics talents and develop important skills such as computational thinking and analytical thinking.
We are proud of our proven track record. From 2022 to 2025, more than 50 Coding Lab students have emerged as HCIC medalists, a testament to the strength of our curriculum and the dedication of our educators.

We’ve been training students for the HCIC since its inception. Our student was awarded the Champion in 2019, and since then, the number of students attaining top awards at this prestigious competition has grown. In 2024, five of our students won Platinum, the top award in the competition. Here is a quick look at our past numbers since 2019!

HCIC Preparation Course Structure
Our HCIC Preparation Course is part of our DSA preparation course series. Students in Primary 6 interested to DSA in coding are strongly recommended to participate in this competition.
HCIC is highly competitive. To do well, students will need to put in the hard work to learn and practice. Homework will be given and students are expected to complete the exercises regularly.

Completed S112 - Python 2 with Coding Lab
If your child does not currently meet the prerequisites,, please contact us to work out an acceleration plan

Your child just needs to show up and we will take care of everything else.

We keep our classes small so that every student benefits from maximum personalised attention.
Mode (Options)

Conducted on a weekly basis, once a week, on a fixed day and timing.

Holiday camps will be conducted at Coding Lab Parkway Parade and Bukit Timah during the March School Holidays. Courses will run from Monday to Friday ,for 2 hours each day.
Locations & Schedules
Please note that your child would need to have completed S112 - Python 2 course before registering for HCIC Preparation.

The 2025 HCIC will be held on Thursday, 22 May 2025 (afternoon)
Duration of the competition: 1 hour
Venue: The schools of the participating students.
The HCIC is only open to all Singapore schools, as well as overseas participants.
All Singapore participants must be Primary 6 students.

HCIC only accepts registration via Singapore MOE schools.
Details will be sent by HCI to all Primary Schools by late January - early February.
The HCIC must be hosted by schools of participating students. For existing Coding Lab students, please feel free to contact us for advice on how to approach your child’s primary school for registration.

The HCIC competition is strictly for 12 years old (Primary 6) students only.
However, please check that your child has started on their Coding Lab course roadmap so as to have sufficient time to meet the prerequisites for this HCIC preparation course.

To derive maximum benefit from our HCIC preparation course, students would need to meet certain pre-requisites in coding experience based on our Coding Lab curriculum.
