MOE Staff Training
In March 2019, we collaborated with the Ministry of Education (MOE) and taught staff how to code a DNA sequencing matcher game with Scratch, passing down the knowledge of computational thinking. It was a fun-filled and exciting afternoon for us all!
Python for NUS Undergraduates
We were thrilled to be invited by the National University of Singapore to organise a series of Python coding workshops for their undergraduates. These lucky undergraduates even got to speak to our tech advisor, Li Jia (also an ex-NUS Computer Science student), who is now based in New York, where he shared more on his job and programming challenges as a VP at Credit Suisse. We firmly believe that coding is the new literacy and are glad to have been able to impart the necessary skills and knowledge in Python that would be useful in the future.
I’m The Best Coder Challenge
We were honoured to be appointed as a trusted Training Partner for Shopee’s I’m the Best Coder Challenge. More than 60 participants came to our training programme and walked away with stronger skills in Python that would aid them in the competition. We hope that they gained valuable knowledge and we wish them all the best in their coding journey!
Cisco Summer Code Camp
40 enthusiastic young coders at Cisco underwent a 30-hour camp with us over Summer. They coded many cool games and presented their creations to their parents at a pizza party on the last day! We are excited to have given them a head start in this digital age, allowing them to make their own creations whilst getting acquainted with the basics of coding.
Ubisoft Family Day
Ubisoft engaged us to run coding programmes for their family day. Participants got introduced to their latest games, and rotated around the different stations which included Coding. We had great fun interacting with programmers from Ubisoft who were intrigued by how we teach the littles to code with the child-friendly, age-appropriate interactive tools that we brought!
Zendesk Family Day
It was a fun-filled family day at Zendesk, where we conducted workshops (pre-vetted by their programmers, of course!) for children aged 4 to 12. The younger ones got to program a robot, design and construct Strawbees whilst the older kids learnt the visual programming language of Scratch, giving them an exciting introduction into the world of coding.
Brands’ – Inter-Primary Robotics Competition
We held the Inter-Primary Robotics Competition in collaboration with Brands Singapore, where we had participants from more than 30 primary schools. It was heartening to see the teamwork and great effort from all the teams as they coded and dressed up their mBots and applied themselves to the challenge of using mBot sensors to reach the treasure first!
Joint Roadshow with Citibank at SmartKids Asia
During the March holidays, we collaborated with Citibank at SmartKids Asia. We took the opportunity to spread the word about coding through workshops and hands-on activities. We hope that this piqued their interest in coding and gave them the impetus to kickstart their coding!
National Library Board – Staff Workshop
Our Coding Lab team had lots of fun at Jurong Regional Library, training staff from the National Library Board to code using stories and nursery rhymes! Everyone had a great time learning how to code as our sporting participants tried their hands at play-acting and voice-acting in their stories. Coding is indeed the new literacy. Watch out for this during Storytelling events!
Sanofi Corporate Lunch Workshop
We started with the idea that it would benefit everyone to have some programming knowledge, which will come in handy in the workforce. Staying true to our roots, Coding Lab held a lunch workshop for the employees of Sanofi, bringing our MIT-inspired curriculum for Scratch to the office. Participants had great fun programming a digital Christmas card to share with their friends and families!
