Winning Top Secondary School Contestant at NOI 2024 (+ multiple Golds)!

We are proud to announce that our students have once again shown their amazing programming abilities at the annual National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI), and clinched 2 Golds and 3 Bronze. We are also excited to have our student, Derrick, awarded the Top Secondary School Contestant award!

Modelled after the International Olympiad in Informatics, the renowned international competition in competitive computing, this is one of the most reputable coding competitions in Singapore. Emphasising creativity in problem-solving, as well as programming skills and expertise, this is an opportunity for students aged 13-18 to showcase their programming capabilities to their entire country.

Presenting to you Coding Lab’s 27th NOI 2024 medallists:

  • Derrick Lukimin - Gold Medalist, Top Secondary School Contestant

  • Ziv Lim Zhengheng - Gold Medalist

  • Aye Yu Phyu Sin - Bronze Medalist

  • Qin Yue Hao - Bronze Medalist

  • James Tzi-Shuen Caudle - Bronze Medalist

In addition to the Gold award, Derrick even received the Top Secondary School Contestant award, making him the best coder in secondary school amongst the participants. 🤩 Our Gold medallists have also qualified for the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) - a huge achievement as they will be representing Singapore regionally! 👏👏

It is great to see our students who have been with us all this time get these achievements! 🥳 Ziv Lim Zhengheng is a bright young coder who has been attending classes with us since he was 9 and was also part of the Champion team for the National IMDA CodeXtremeApps (CXA) 2019 Hackathon. Derrick Lukimin is also another advanced coder who has been with us since 2020.

Once again, congratulations and a big round of applause to all of our students! Their outstanding coding abilities in our classes got them selected for our intensive NOI Preparation Course (By Invite Only) - Like Ziv, many of them started with us early, whilst still in Primary school. Kudos to all of our students for their hard work!

While we celebrate our students’ success in this area, we recognise that competitive programming is not all there is to programming. Many of our students have achieved success in other areas; whether it’s creating a Stock Rating Algorithm, a Real-Time Carpark Tracker, a prize-winning app or attaining an overseas scholarship to read Computer Science at University, we’re here to support our students every step of the way.

Interested to find out more? Check out our proprietary Python Meets Math course, which incorporates O and A-Level Mathematics for ages 13 to 18 to pick up one of the most versatile programming languages. We also have Advanced Elective courses, which includes Data Analytics, Algorithm, Game Development, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Secondary school and Junior College students.
